Summary:
The Controller plans and directs the accounting operations of the company resulting in efficient workflows with robust internal controls that yield accurate financial reporting.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred.
Master's degree in related field preferred.
Experience:
At least five (5) years of related experience, including at least two (2) years of experience managing accounting operations, required.
Experience with HRIS and/or GL system conversions strongly preferred.
Experience with multiple general ledger / ERP software platforms, including Microsoft Dynamics GP, preferred.
Public accounting and/or corporate tax experience a plus.
Licensure:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) strongly preferred.
Essential Job Functions:
Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
Implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to mitigate risk.
Oversees and contributes to the production of periodic financial reports in an accurate and timely manner.
Conducts financial analysis and communicates findings to CFO and other stakeholders, as appropriate.
Recommends and calculates benchmarks used to measure the company's performance.
Contributes to the management of budgets and forecasts and to the appropriate reporting of differences.
Works with external accountants, auditors, etc.
to provide necessary information and to ensure outsourced work is completed.
Oversees payroll processing, including the preparation of quarterly and annual payroll filings.
Oversees accounts payable and cash management processes, including reconciliations and liquidity planning.
Drives continual process improvements that improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and degree of customer service associated with accounting operations.
Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
Engages other duties as necessary and/or assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Able to direct and prioritize with minimal supervision and direction.
Strong accounting knowledge and skills.
Meets deadlines and communicates appropriately and leads others to do the same.
Capable of synthesizing and organizing large amounts of information.
Excellent team building, management and supervisory skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Equipment Operated:
Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephone, calculators, etc.
Work Environment:
Position is primarily in a well-lighted office environment.
This position may require limited local travel throughout the business day.
May require occasional early morning or evening meeting attendance, as well as attendance at limited weekend meetings and/or annual retreat.
Mental/Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
The employee is primarily sitting at a desk utilizing a computer.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
